The crew of the
Enterprise reprised their roles for these twenty two Filmation animated
adventures (minus Chekov). Broadcast on NBC in 1973, and rerun on the
Sci-fi Channel, the show won an Emmy in 1975.

ReBoot:
the
Fourth Season (v4.0) DVD
The fourth and final
season of the
magnificent creation that was ReBoot consists of two made-for-TV
movies: Daemon Rising and The Two Bobs. Season three was "edgier" than
seasons one and two because it didn't have to pass ABC's Standards and
Practices criteria. Unlike the first two seasons, it was also all one
story. These two films are even "edgier" than season three.
The atraction of ReBoot was always its innocence, which seems to have
escaped the unsubtle writers of Version Four. ReBoot has been listening
to its critics, and that's a bad thing. You could still run these shows
on
Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block, and ReBoot still has more heart and
soul than some of the most- watched CGI shows. Critics au contraire,
fans everywhere
will join Frisket in mourning the passing of ReBoot.
ReBoot:
the Third Season-DVD
The first CGI
(computer
generated imagery) animated series was marked not simply by
technological advance. It's real strengths are traditional ones: great
characers, strong stories, excellent writing--and it shows. Thanks to
the hearts and brains on the keyboard side of the Silicon
Graphics workstations, ReBoot is
still a triumph. Many shows that are cutting-edge at the time don't
hold
up as technology advances, but ReBoot remains a delight and achieves a
one-of-a-kind status, not only as a defining show of the '90s, but as
it's many fans attest, a cult classic that transcends the moment when
it
first arrived, light years ahead of anything on Saturday morning.
Running to
rave reviews for its first two seasons, Disney nevertheless
cancelled the show, along with many other non-Disney shows, when they
bought the ABC network. This sunk Irwin's toy line and spelled doom
for the many creative ReBoot spin-offs, which even included a theme
park ride. However, it also gave Mainframe Entertainment a free hand
with the show, since they no longer had to meet ABC network standards.
The third
season was never shown in the US, until the year
2000, when Cartoon Network ran it on the Toonami block. Viewers
unanimously hailed the third season as a triumph, and whereas the first
two seasons consist of self-contained shows, except for the last four
shows in season two, season three follows a continuous storyline. These
four DVDs contain the entire 16 episodes of season three, along with
numerous extras.

the Third Season- Vol. 1: DVD
Battle
of
the
Planets- Vol 1: Attack- DVD
Produced by Tasunoko
Productions, which also created Speed Racer, this series aired as
Gatchaman in
Japan in the early '70s. Edited and dubbed, they were shown as Battle
of the Planets, syndicated and aired on American TV in 1978. They were
later re-edited and broadcast on WTBS as "G-Force," and aired on
Cartoon
Network in the '90s. Amazingly, these Rhino DVDs include shows from all
three versions. It's a chance to revisit a show from childhood which
introduced anime to American audiences, as well as watch the unedited
anime originals. Much of the violence was excised in the original
transition
from Gatchaman, and Battle of the Planet bridged the cut out parts with
new animation and new characters, including an R2D2-like robot.
"G-Force"
brought back some of the cut out parts, while again re-editing the
show,
which later generated a new fans when it ran on Cartoon Network.
Vol. 1 contains Attack of the Space Terrapin and Rescue of
the Astronauts, along with other versions of shows.
